ASSOCIATE EDITOR: 1 SPOT

Ayaskala is looking for an Associate Editor!
It is a voluntary position, i.e., unpaid.
Time commitment ranges from 3-5 hours a week during normal period to 5-10 hours a week during peak work period. But, we do believe that if you span out your work mindfully, you won’t have to spend more than 4 hours a week working with us.
Our work schedules are highly flexible.
This is a remote position, does not require you to be available in the same city.

Tasks include:

  • Managing the monthly newsletter with the help of editorial interns.
  • Assuring that the content in the newsletter is 100% original and creative.
  • Collaborating with in-house graphic designers and creatives to produce meaningful content every month for the newsletter.
  • Attending monthly staff meetings to plan the next issue.
  • Brainstorming ideas and proposals for the newsletter and contents of the issue.
  • Engaging regularly on our social media and sharing the posts we make.
  • Helping out with urgent and spontaneous needs in the capacity of an editor.

Requirements:

  • At least 6 months of some editorial experience – first readers, editorial intern, workshops, beta reader, etc.
  • You believe in the concept of Ayaskala and support its aim.
  • You are well-equipped with the tools required to editing a person’s work.

EDITORIAL INTERN: 2 SPOTS

Ayaskala is looking for Editorial Interns!
It is a voluntary position, i.e., unpaid.
This is the perfect position for someone who’s willing to learn under experienced editors and build skills for the future.
Time commitment ranges from 3-5 hours a week during normal period to 5-10 hours a week during peak work period. But, we do believe that if you span out your work mindfully, you won’t have to spend more than 4 hours a week working with us.
Our work schedules are highly flexible.
This is a remote position, does not require you to be available in the same city.

Tasks include:

  • Working under the associate editor and managing the monthly newsletter.
  • Creating and curating 100% original and creative content for the newsletter.
  • Attending monthly staff meetings to plan the next issue.
  • Brainstorming ideas and proposals for the newsletter and contents of the issue.
  • Engaging regularly on our social media and sharing the posts we make.
  • Helping out with urgent and spontaneous needs in the capacity of an editorial intern.

Requirements:

  • Extra points if you have worked as a First Reader before but not a necessity.
  • You believe in the concept of Ayaskala and support its aim.
  • You are a good team player and are open to learning.
